Happy Hallloween!!!!

Welcome to my favorite holiday! Right now I'm sitting in my office, wearing my Tony Romo jersey and sweatpants (woot) and listening to the girl sing a song she just wrote. The boy is playing his newly upgraded DS (paid for with his birthday money).

We've had lunch out, trick and treated throughout my office, and I'm trying to figure out how long I need to stick around to make a good enough impression before I bail.

Mind you, I'm wearing the sweatpants instead of the very cute and form fitting witch outfit I planned on wearing, because my ^$%#^%$#^ stomach is about the size of a 5-month pregnant woman's. Yep, the intestines are still kicking my ass. The hernia is ridiculous as well due to the bloat. Sweatpants were all I could manage today.

I haven't even consumed ONE piece of Halloween candy, trying to minimize intake of anything that could be contributing to this.

Then again, on the way home I may pick up some Krispy Kremes and ice cream, because I may be resorting to the old faves to get things moving. Unfortunately, with how weird this has been, with my luck it will just give me more gas and I'll move on to 6 months pregnant belly tomorrow. Somehow I think a little MOM is in order. Sigh.

I'm really looking forward to the kids tonight. I love torturing trick or treaters. There is no candy to be had at my house without a song or a joke or something! And the ones that just stand there and say nothing? Drives me nuts. I do make it worth their while though - the pickings are mighty fine at my house :)

The weather is beautiful, so the kids should be in good shape later. My lovey is coming to help me distribute candy. The ex is taking the kids door to door as he usually does. I think pizza may also be in order (with a side of grease, please).

Hope you have a wonderful Halloween!

At least now the pictures will move down.....

Sheesh, a guy gets all pretty and then complains about the pictures. I think he makes a fine woman, don't you?

Playing phone tag with the hospital about my pre-op testing for surgery. This shouldn't be all that difficult. They only have a voice mailbox so if I miss the call (which I've done now twice) I can't get back in touch with a human. Annoying. I'm thinking I'll have to fast before whatever tests they are going to run which means a no coffee morning soon. Yuck.

Nothing like waiting until the night before Halloween to work on your kids' costumes. We got them over a month ago but I know the girl's needs some rigging to make it fit right. I hope to God I can do it easily. If not, it will be off to wally world.

Sometimes I just think life is complicated. It's not easy doing everything you want to, when you want to, how you want to. Why can't everyone just do what I say and want? It would be so much easier.

I would love to partake in a piece of your pecan piiieeeee......

The hernia surgery is now on. Tuesday, Nov. 13th in the event you want to send me some "it's not going to hurt like a fucker and pain meds are your friend" vibes. Oh, and please hope that he doesn't open me up and find crazy "your insides shouldn't look like this" crap in there either.

Interesting weekend. Note to self: If you are going to partake in a Halloween themed drink based on a Long Island Iced Tea, think again. Especially if you decide to wander into the street in front of moving traffic after going into a tattoo parlor. And no, I'm not kidding.

Anyone else notice SOX WIN???? Yay. I ordered a championship shirt for my boy, since he's become such a big Sox fan. He's completely enchanted by Tex and now the Sox. Fun for all of us, really.

And speaking of enchanted, the girl gave Tex a special makeover yesterday. I would have downloaded the pictures this morning, but since I overslept, the kids missed the bus, among other things, I didn't have time. The pics are priceless. I promise to put one up later tonight. He makes a fine looking woman, that Tex.

I found this amazing pumpkin cheesecake/cake concoction on QVC. Actually saw it while channel surfing, then decided to look for it online. I want to order it now but will wait until thanksgiving. I can't do the fancy link from my yahoo mail so you'll have to trust me. But if you go to qvc.com and put in pumpkin cheesecake, you'll find it. I'm drooling just thinking about it. There are a few other cakes that look ridiculously fabulous. I hope I can refrain from ordering anything else LOL.

Let's move on to the TMI category, shall we? Me, of the regular of most regular DS poopers.....ain't movin. This following a day of eating quite a bit of things that should move me just fine. Bean soup for God's sake? Is it possible I had TOO much fiber? All I can say is that I ate a sausage and pepper and onion hoagie at lunch and it was greasy as all get out so I hope to God it works - otherwise I'm stopping for ice cream on the way home because that's always a sure fix.

I'm really starting to think about medically enhanced wrinkle removal. Yeah, vain as shit, I know...but the frown lines and the lines around my mouth bother me something fierce. I hate it. Ugh.

And in case you were wondering about the whole tattoo parlor incident, I was actually looking for a place that did piercings :)

Happy Friday!

And a very happy 8th birthday wish to my beautiful daughter! I can't believe my baby is 8! God I"m getting old. There is nothing that makes you feel your age more than watching your kids grow up. I remember the day she was born like it was yesterday. Knowing I had a baby girl, well, it was unbelieveable. I was in love, head over heels from the moment I laid eyes on her. It hasn't changed, although she knows how to push me like no one else. But she is beautiful, smart, funny, sassy and is going places, that much I know for sure. Jail maybe :)

And, there is nothing that makes you feel like a fat ass more than getting on the scale and having it jump 4 pounds from one day to the next. Now, I know this is just one of those DS things and it happens but I certainly had an oh shit moment when I looked down this morning. I hope to GOD I have better news tomorrow LOL.

Red Sox 2-0 in the World Series. This makes for a happy Tex. Which should translate into a happy weekend. At least until Game 3 and his normal Boston fan stuff kicks in (like he said to me this morning - they got lucky ROFL)

Speaking of Tex - I'm not sure why I thought his getting a regular schedule with a desk job would be a good idea. When he's bored, he's turned into that email forwarding guy. You know the one :) Knock it off!!!!!

Jeans, boots and a turtleneck sweater today. I love fall. But I am feeling the cold way more than I can remember. Time to break out my heavier coats, I think.

Going to take the girl to my favorite restaurant tonight for her birthday dinner. She picked it, too. I asked her this morning what she was going to have - she looked at me with those big blue eyes and said, "Steak, of course". That's my girl - no chicken fingers for her.

I don't think I mentioned that I found Tab in my grocery store this weekend. I did a little happy dance in the aisle. Very little makes me giddier than battery acid in a can. It's fantastic.

Food challenge on Survivor last night. They brought back the balut. And yet again, I gagged and had to turn my head. I don't know what it is about those stupid food challenges but I can tell you if I was competing, they'd be voting my ass right off the island because there would be no way in hell I would eat that stuff - even if I were starving to death. GACK.

I guess I should attempt to work, huh. Damn job. Hope you have a great weekend. TTFNABM

Divorced parenting is really hard.....

Not that this is news to me. I didn't expect it to be easy. But I'm struggling with a bunch of things right now, I'm sure enhanced by the fact we all spent a week together on vacation (again, waaaay too much togetherness).

It's the birthday/holiday time of year which is difficult for any family, and when you add in divorced parents in relationships, well, it gets even weirder.

This includes spending time with the ex inlaws, which is always weird for me. Determining when to bring or not bring Tex to functions - or when he can even live with being there. As far as I'm concerned, he is a part of my life and I want him around - but then he doesn't want to be around.....OY.

I think I've figured out Thanksgiving at least for my side of things. Christmas is another story and I have no idea what I'm going to do about that.

I'm also trying to figure out how to stop the "drop-ins". Walking into my house without knocking, and when I'm not there? Come on now. You don't live in the house any more, you don't pay for it, if it's an issue of your stuff, get the rest of it out. Otherwise, pay me the same courtesy I pay you. It's only fair and considerate.

Thank God only one more birthday to get through tomorrow. I want to make it a happy day for my sweet girl - but I'm already stressed.

Some days this just sucks.

HOWEVER.....

It's eons better than the alternative, just in case you were wondering.

Back to work...

And I swear it felt like 5pm at, um, 10:30am????? WTF?????

I've been debating long and hard about blogging more details of my vacation. Then I thought long and hard about the fact that my ex reads here. I don't think all the time, but I do suspect he'd be curious enough to see what I said. So this is a dilemma my friends.

I will say this. Too much togetherness. Too, too much. Two rooms would have been such a better way to go. Two cars, also.

I have never been more proud of my relationship than I was this week. I got a keeper, folks. And my mom rocks. And so do my kids. Enough said.

Did I mention coming back to work sucks ass??

I changed my background, yet again. I need to figure out how to do custom designs but haven't found the time or energy just yet. One of these days.

I'm really sad about the fires in California. Such a beautiful place and it must be so scary there right now.

Oh, and I did a really smart (not) thing at lunch. I ate lasagna. I'm giving myself an hour before the food coma kicks in. And the stomach rebelling from the pasta. I so smart.

OH and probably one of the more fun things that happened on our trip? Sox going to the World Series!!! WOOT.

Ok enough rambling. I have a food coma to slip into so I'll catch you later.

We're home...

And boy do I have stories.  Lots of them.  Unfortunately, you are going to have to wait - because I have way too many things to do today.  Suffice to say that's the last time we'll do that kind of vacation.  Talk about weird dynamics!

I had to blow off two sets of meetings - one with DSers and one with a friend from the Mom's board - too many things to manage - keeping peace, mostly.  That sucked but was unavoidable.  I'm exhausted being the peacemaker.  It's not fun.  I won't do it again.

Anyway, it was a great time overall, the kids loved it, we got along for the most part.  Red Sox are going to the World Series (that made for an interesting week for sure).  We managed through a heat wave in Florida (ick) so the majority of our pics have us sweaty and glistening.  Pretty.

Here's a few pics to tide you over.  I promise a better update soon.

We're here

Hope this works since I'm doing it from the blackberry.

We made it to Florida (barely due to traffic on our way to the airport). The dynamics are, well, weird. Really, really weird. I already have stories to tell but you are just going to have to wait. No one is dead yet but I am sitting on the deck having a drink in the middle of the day if that tells you anything.

Going to the Halloween party at Disney tonight. The only people that have costumes are the ex and his gf. Need I say more?

I will check in again soon. Don't miss me too much.
